Badminton has strong roots in the Irish sporting community.

Badminton Ireland was founded in 1899 and took part in the first international badminton match against England in 1903. It was a founding member of the World Badminton Federation in 1934.

About us

Today, our sporting credentials are strong. We have one of the largest badminton memberships per capita in the world with deep roots in the local community.

We have a  successful high performance programme with two Olympians in Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016.

Badminton Ireland are searching for new volunteers at our various events including National Championships and our pinnacle event the Irish International Badminton Championships.

All our tournaments run annually and you can be a part of them.  Check out our volunteer page and go from there.
